Quickie: Evo 2017 Begins Soon!
Not that this is enough of an excuse for not posting more...but Evo 2017 is almost upon us. Three days full of fighting game goodness. I've been trying to refine my..."coal" of a skill level, to at least cubic zirconia levels. I'm blessed to have an amazing local fighting game community, and now I hope to make them proud, and not go 0-2 in King of Fighters 14, Injustice 2 or Street Fighter 5.
A long weekend in Las Vegas is always an amazing time. Lots of chance to party, hang out with old/new friends and hopefully win big. The event is grandiose, full of great moments that we will remember for years to come. You can click the picture above to go to Evo's official site. Here are a few quick tips from me to all of you going to Las Vegas to join in on the fun:
Keep Cool: It will be hot out there! Take a hat, some sunscreen, and lots of water. There will be a lot of chances in Vegas to get...dehydrated, so make sure you drink lots of water.
Be Aware of Your Area: There are several ways you can get to the Mandalay Bay for the event, so try to find the most cost efficient way of doing so. The Excalibur for instance, has a free tram to the Mandalay Bay that you can use. If you are close to it, it may be cheaper than taking an Uber/Lyft all the way there. Check a map!
Plan Ahead: Check your pools if you are competing and/or there to support your friends. Give yourself plenty of time to arrive. ESPECIALLY if you still need to pick up your badge. If you don't have anything planned outside of this, look for shows, events, etc. If you're not sure what to do outside of Evo, Groupon is a great place to start. The Linq High Roller is amazing at night, especially the one that includes an open bar. Carry at least one of your favorite type of drinks if you can, it will save you money. Liquor and convenience stores are A LOT cheaper than hotel shops.
Servers - Don't be a dick: If you plan on indulging on alcoholic beverages while you gamble, make sure you tip your server. It will make it a lot more likely they come back to you to check if you need any more. Make your servers your best friends. You will not regret it, but you will not like the treatment you get if you're a dick, especially if you intend on staying at that place for a long time.
The main thing: be responsible. Have fun responsibly. Be aware of your surroundings and everyone you are with. This will be an unforgettable weekend. I will try to keep you posted, if I don't, I will post a recap next week.
Get boning!
